Rules, information and banned lists
Dollar Commander is a fun, budget Commander deck-building variant, where each card in your deck must be no higher than the dollar tier you choose. This variant on the Commander format creates for more interesting gameplay, encouraging players to include lesser-known cards while being mindful of your wallet.
Dollar Commander can be played in different pricing tiers — $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, or $10. Your commander can be allowable up to a higher agreed-to amount, or can be exempted from this rule altogether. If you’re new to Dollar Commander, a good place to start is $2 DC, with commanders up to $5.
Prices are gathered at the start of the Commander season — August 23, 2019, and two weeks after each black-bordered, Commander-compatible booster box release. The next pricing update will be on September 6, 2019.
(Not updated since August.)
Any cards priced above the dollar tier you play at are not allowed in your deck. Prices are updated two weeks after each Commander compatible black-bordered box release. If the price goes below the dollar amount, even if it goes higher later, it stays legal at the lower amount.
Below you can find a full ban list for the tier you play with. Commanders are higlighted in gold. (Silver-bordered cards are not allowed and have been omitted from this list.)
